Mathoho was missed - Masinga

Cape Town – Class of 1996 member, Phil Masinga, admits that Bafana Bafana looked shaky in defence against Algeria.

According to KickOff, Masinga believes that Eric Mathoho will be slotted into the Bafana starting XI against Senegal after losing to Algeria 3-1.

“To me, the defence was not as strong as we would have wanted. We also failed to take all our scoring chances,” says Masinga.

“I think the return of Mathoho will be good to the team.

Mathoho served a one match ban alongside Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

Masinga is confident that Bafana Bafana have what it takes to overcome Senegal in their next Group C encounter.

“Look, everyone knows that this group is difficult and this is why they call it the group of death. I think we will do well against Senegal.”

Bafana will be looking to redeem themselves when they face Senegal in their next match in Mongomo on Friday.

Kick-off is at 21:00 (SA time).

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
