Mongomo - South Africa coach Shakes Mashaba insisted that his side
performed well at the Africa Cup of Nations despite going out in the
Bafana Bafana once again threw away a lead on Tuesday as they lost
2-1 to Ghana in Mongomo to bow out bottom of Group C without a win.
"We lost the match in the second half. We played well in the first half but after the break we sat back," said Mashaba.
"The two goals we conceded did not come from us defending badly, but

Defender Anele Ngcongca added: "It is disappointing to crash out of
the competition like this. We scored first against Algeria and against
Senegal only to come back and concede goals, and it was the same story
"We sat back too much in the second half, too deep and allowed them too much space to shoot at our goal."
