Johannesburg - The heavy rainfall in Johannesburg over the past few days will bring goals for Bafana Bafana, fans said at the 29th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) soccer tournament at the National Stadium in Soweto on Saturday.

"We have not been scoring, I know. But the rain shows that there is going to be a lot of goals coming in tonight’s game," said soccer enthusiast Vusi Dladla.

“I braved the rain all the way from Witbank to support Bafana Bafana because it’s my team which is going to win today. We will beat them [Cape Verde] two goals to one."

Minutes before the opening ceremony, fans streamed into the stadium. Dressed in gold and green and blowing vuvuzulas, Bafana fans were in a celebratory ahead of the ceremony.

The sound of vuvuzelas could be heard from over 100 meters away.

While Bafana Bafana had failed to score a single goal in their last two games against Norway and Algeria, fans believed that would change.

"We are winning today. Bafana Bafana will win two nil. The goal scorers will be [Bernard] Parker and [Katlego] Mphela,” said Lesego Paako of Brits.

Sadly Mmotong shared similar sentiments.

“South Africa will win two nil and the goal scorers will be Mphela and [Simphiwe]Tshabalala," he said.

“The fact that Bafana has not been scoring is not a problem. Today they will be more serious and they will score. Those two games were just friendlies."

The competition is getting interesting, not so much because of the quality of the matches but more because of the teams making their moves to contest for the top spots, writes blogger Baylion.
