Ethiopian soccer fan fined

Johannesburg - An Ethiopian soccer fan arrested for running onto the pitch during an Africa Cup of Nations match was fined on Monday, Mpumalanga police said.

Cherea Ablmenjine Regassa, 35, admitted guilt in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court and was fined R1 500, Colonel Leonard Hlathi said.

Regassa jumped over the barrier and ran onto the pitch during a match between Ethiopia and Burkina Faso last Friday.
