CAF name AFCON's best

Cape Town - CAF have released their team of the tournament and confirmed the winners of various other awards for AFCON 2015.

CAF have named their Team of the Tournament following Ivory Coast's triumph over Ghana on Sunday.

Sibusiso Vilakazi was overlooked despite CAF opting to break away from tradition and selecting a 3-5-2 formation.

Winners, Ivory Coast, had seven players selected in the starting lineup with losing finalists Ghana being represented by three players.

Felipe Ovono, Thievy Bifouma and Javier Balboa were rewarded for their excellent performances with a place in the substitutes list.

CAF Team of the Tournament:

Goalkeeper: Sylvain Gbohouo (Côte d’Ivoire) – Robert Kidiaba (RD Congo)

Defenders: Serge Aurier (Côte d’Ivoire), Harrison Afful (Ghana),  Abib Kolo Toure (Côte d’Ivoire)     

Midfielders: Andre Ayew (Ghana), Yaya Toure (Côte d’Ivoire), Max Alain Gradel (Côte d’Ivoire), Yannick Bolasie (DR Congo), Gervinho (Côte d’Ivoire)      

Forwards: Christian Atsu (Ghana),  Wilfried Bony (Côte d’Ivoire)

Substitutes: Felipe Ovono (Equatorial Guinea), Faouzi Ghoulam (Algeria), Chancel Mbemba (DR Congo), Thievy Bifouma (Congo), Ibrahima Traore (Guinea), Dieumerci Mbokani (DR Congo), Yacine Brahimi (Algeria), Ahmed Akaïchi (Tunisia), Yassine Chikhaoui (Tunisia), Javier Balboa (Equatorial Guinea), Cedric Mongoungou (DR Congo)

CAF also confirmed the winners of various other awards, including naming Christian Atsu (Ghana) as the competition's best player. Atsu also scopped the prize of Goal of the Tournament.

Nissan goal of the Tournament: Christian Atsu (Ghana) [3rd goal against Guinea]

Fair Play team: DR Congo

Samsung Fair Player of the tournament: Kwesi Appiah (Ghana)

Samsung Fair Player of the final match (CIV-GHA): Wilfried Bony (Côte d’Ivoire) 

Orange Man of the final match (CIV-GHA): Afriyie Acquah (Ghana)
