CAF bungle Bafana flight home

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana will only arrive back in South Africa on Friday, due to the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) failure to arrange a flight for the team.

"The delay in Bafana Bafana arriving as scheduled this morning, Thursday, January 29, was as a result of the Equatorial Guinea Local Organising Committee failing to organise a chartered flight out of Mongomo in time," the SA Football Association's head of communications, Dominic Chimhavi, said.

"All travelling matters regarding teams leaving the host country are organised and arranged by the LOC.

"Bafana Bafana are now scheduled to arrive home on Friday."

The team were due to arrive in Johannesburg early on Thursday morning but will now have to wait in Mongomo for a flight to be arranged.

South Africa bowed out of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday, with a single point from three group C matches, losing to Algeria and Ghana and playing to a 1-1 draw against Senegal.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
