Burkina Faso name squad

Cape Town - Burkina Faso coach Paul Put has named his 23-man squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The 58-year-old narrowly missed out on claiming the trophy in the 2013 edition of the African showpiece, with the Stallions suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nigeria in South Africa.

Put has selected just one local-based player in Kadiogo goalkeeper Moussa Fofana, while just over half of his squad ply their trade in Europe.

Al-Jazira forward Jonathan Pitroipa claimed the Player of the Tournament award in 2013 and will be involved once again.

Burkina Faso are in Group A, along with hosts Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Congo.

They begin their AFCON campaign against Gabon on the opening day before facing the hosts on 21 January.
