Cape Town - Stormers coach Robbie Fleck is playing his captaincy card close to his chest as they prepare for the new season.

The Stormers are currently in Wilderness on a pre-season training camp where Fleck is putting a 38-man squad through their paces.

With Duane Vermeulen and Jean de Villiers now plying their trade in Europe, the Capetonians are searching for a new leader for 2016.

Fleck told Netwerk24 that the Stormers management have a “good idea” who the captain will be but that they will only make the announcement within the next few weeks.

Players not attending the camp in Wilderness due to commitments with other teams are Schalk Burger (Suntory Sungoliath), Eben Etzebeth (NTT-Docomo Red Hurricanes), Juan de Jongh (Springbok Sevens), Cheslin Kolbe (Springbok Sevens) and Cornal Hendricks (Springbok Sevens).

The Stormers start their Super Rugby campaign at home against the Bulls on February 27.
