Stormers keen on Jaguares warm-up

Cape Town - The Stormers are in the process of negotiating a warm-up match against Argentina’s new entrants in Super Rugby, the Jaguares.

The Capetonians will re-assemble for pre-season on Thursday before setting off on a camp to Wilderness next Tuesday. They normally go to Hermanus for a pre-season camp but coach Robbie Fleck decided to mix things up a bit this year.

Their first warm-up match is scheduled against the SWD Eagles on January 30, while there is also a game scheduled against the Kings (date TBA).

According to Netwerk24, the Stormers are busy negotiating with the Jaguares for a warm-up match in Cape Town next month, but an official announcement is yet to be made.

As is the case every year, a match against Boland is also scheduled but very few of the current Stormers squad will feature in that encounter.

Instead, the majority of the team will come from the Western Province squad and Currie Cup John Dobson is likely to take charge of the team for that game.

The Stormers will play in the Africa 1 Conference in Super Rugby this year alongside the Bulls, Cheetahs and the Sunwolves from Japan.

They start their season-proper with a home game against the Bulls on February 27.
