SA Rugby release details of Joost's memorial service

Cape Town - A public memorial service for former Springbok captain Joost van der Westhuizen, who passed away earlier this week, will be held at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Friday 10 February 2016, starting at 12h30.

SA Rugby has also called upon supporters to wear their green and gold gear, in remembrance of Van der Westhuizen.

Following a private ceremony for his close family and loved ones earlier on Friday morning, Van der Westhuizen’s casket will be escorted to Loftus Versfeld.

The gates to the stadium will be opened to the public who wish to attend the ceremony paying respects to the former Springbok and Blue Bulls hero.

The ceremony will include a host of guest speakers and dignitaries, and will also feature tributes by a selection of Joost’s favourite artists.

Guests are urged to arrive at the stadium early from 10h30, in order to ensure a smooth and dignified ceremony.
