Nonu extends Toulon deal

Toulon - New Zealand legend Ma'a Nonu has signed a one-year contract extension with Toulon, the French Top 14 club's president Mourad Boudjellal said on Thursday.

The 34-year-old former All Black centre will remain in the south of France until June 2018.

The burly 103-time capped crash-ball midfielder joined Toulon in November 2015 after helping New Zealand win a second successive Rugby World Cup.

After struggling during his first campaign with Toulon, which followed straight on from an entire Super Rugby season, Rugby Championship and then World Cup back-to-back, Nonu has been in good form this season.

He's scored three tries in 19 games in all competitions.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
