New deal for Shipperley

Melbourne - The Rebels have received a significant boost as wing Dom Shipperley has put pen to paper a new contract with the Super Rugby outfit.

After joining the Rebels in 2015, the 25-year-old has inked an extension which will see him stay at the organisation until the end of 2017.

With three Wallabies caps and 63 Super Rugby appearances, including 18 tries, to his name, Shipperley will continue to add a wealth of experience and leadership to the team's exciting backline.

"Dom is very highly regarded in our organisation. A smart person and player who brings consistency, balance and professionalism every day," Melbourne Rebels General Manager Rugby Operations Baden Stephenson said.

"Dom was in great form prior to his injury so we look forward to seeing him return and play an influential role on and off the field in 2017."

Shipperley, who earned three Wallabies Test caps in 2012, has been sidelined since Round 8 when he injured his knee against the Hurricanes after scoring the club's 100th Super Rugby try at AAMI Park.

"It's exciting, especially with a couple key playmakers here next year and a couple good friends as well, so it's good to keep the group together," Shipperley said.

"I am really keen to get back on the field, enjoy my rugby and help drive the club."
