Lambie starts alongside Dan Carter

Cape Town - Springbok flyhalf Patrick Lambie will line up alongside former rival and All Black flyhalf Dan Carter when Racing 92 travel to Munster for their European Cup clash on Saturday.

It will be Lambie's first start for the club since he arrived from the Sharks.

The 27-year-old, who celebrated his birthday this week, will start at fullback while Carter has been given the flyhalf duties as he returns following a drinking and driving misdemeanor.

Lambie, meanwhile, has only just returned to full health after a long period of rehabilitation following another serious head knock that had threatened to cut his career short.

He is considered fully fit and played most of last weekend's 22-18 win against Leicester after replacing the injured Juan Imhoff after just six minutes.

While he is still technically available for Springbok selection, it is unlikely that Lambie will feature on the end-of-year tour.

Lambie has played 56 Tests since making his debut back in 2010.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
