Grant eyes Super Rugby glory at Force

Cape Town - Former Stormers flyhalf Peter Grant has set his sights on winning the Super Rugby title with the Western Force.

Grant, who earned 104 Super Rugby caps during an eight-year career at the Stormers, joined the Australian franchise in the off-season after spending a season at La Rochelle in France.

The Force finished bottom of the Super Rugby standings last year, but Grant insists that a change in approach at the Perth-based side could bring about a change in fortunes.

“It was a great experience I had at the Stormers,” Grant told Fox Sports. “It was a good career there but the change was good for me.

“My goal is to do well here at the Western Force. I haven’t won a championship with Super Rugby. I’ve played in a final but I haven’t won it, so there’s that achievement I’m aiming for.

“The preparation that we’re putting in our pre-season, we haven’t been training to be second best, so we all believe that we have a fighting chance to be in those playoffs and that’s the attitude we’ve gone on.”

According to Grant, the Force will adopt an attractive, exciting brand of rugby - which is suitable for his style of play.

The 31-year-old Grant played five Tests for the Springboks between 2007 and 2008.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
