Fickou signs new Toulouse deal

Toulouse - Highly-rated French centre Gal Fickou has extended his contract with Toulouse for three more seasons, the Top 14 rugby union outfit said on Friday.

The previous contract had been due to expire at the end of this season and Toulouse had previously secured a verbal agreement with the 21-year-old who was part of the France team that reached the World Cup quarter-final.

Fickou joined Toulouse from reigning three-time European champions Toulon in 2012 and has played 76 games for them, scoring 18 tries, four of them in his last two outings.

"He is one of the 10 best centres in the world and soon he will be number one. He reminds me of Sonny Bill Williams: tall, athletic, technical, with a good hand-off and a feel for the game. He has everything," said Maxime Medard, Fickou's Toulouse and France team-mate.
