England players could dominate Lions squad

London - A successful Six Nations campaign could see 10 to 15 England players being picked in the British and Irish Lions squad, Eddie Jones believes.

Jones is yet to lose a Test as England coach after an unbeaten 2016, with England regarded as firm favourites to retain their Six Nations title next year.

And Jones thinks a successful Six Nations will see England's players dominate Warren Gatland's Lions team.

Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live: "The Lions selection will be based almost entirely on what happens in the Six Nations. I think if we have a dominant Six Nations I would expect anywhere from 10-15 of our players to be in the Lions squad.

"I'll leave that to Warren Gatland but a number of players have put up their hand strongly. I think you have guys who went on the last Lions tour like Dan Cole, Ben Youngs, Owen Farrell will be at the head of the queue."

The Lions will play three Tests against New Zealand, the first on June 24 at Eden Park in Auckland.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
