Paris - Clermont's Scottish international scrumhalf Greig Laidlaw will be sidelined for between 10 and 12 weeks after breaking his leg in Sunday's European Champions Cup opener, the French club said Wednesday.
The 32-year-old, who was hurt after coming off the bench in Clermont's 26-21 win at Welsh side Ospreys, underwent medical tests on Tuesday which revealed a fractured fibula.
Top 14 champions Clermont said the injury does not require surgery but Laidlaw, capped 58 times by his country, faces a six-week lay-off before he can start his rehabilitation.
He will miss Scotland's November internationals against Samoa, New Zealand and Australia, as well as Clermont's next three Champions Cup matches.
Laidlaw moved to Clermont from English Premiership outfit Gloucester at the start of the season.
He also hurt his ankle during this year's Six Nations against France and was ruled out of Scotland's final three matches in the competition.
