Carter shrugs off calf injury

Paris - All Blacks superstar Dan Carter insists his calf injury is nothing serious and it will not sideline him from this month's European Cup final.

The 34-year-old was hurt when his French club Racing 92 defeated Leicester in the semi-finals last weekend and he was forced to sit out Sunday's Top 14 match with Clermont.

But he said he will be fit for the European final against Saracens in Lyon on May 14.

"I injured my calf in the semi-final," Carter told Canal+ television at half-time of Sunday's league game.

"It's nothing serious. I hope to be able to train next week."

World Cup winner Carter, capped 112 times by the All Blacks, sparked a degree of alarm amongst fans when he was pictured on social media using a crutch.

But on Sunday, he was walking around the Yves-du-Manoir stadium without difficulty.
