Bok guru pops in at Cheetahs practice

Cape Town - Springbok assistant coach Johann van Graan on Thursday paid the Cheetahs a visit as they prepare for this year’s Super Rugby competition.

The forwards coach is the only member of Heyneke Meyer’s Springbok coaching team still contracted to the South African Rugby Union (SARU).

Van Graan’s contract was extended before last year’s Rugby World Cup.

“It’s nice having a Springbok coach here and to hear what is his opinion on our practices,” Cheetahs coach Franco Smith told Netwerk24.

"Maybe he has some advice for us because you can always learn more. We’d like to hear what their (the Springboks) viewpoint is, and yes, it’s nice having him here.”

It is believed that Van Graan will pay all South African Super Rugby franchises a visit before the Super Rugby competition commences.

The Cheetahs open their campaign at home against Argentina’s Jaguares on Friday, February 26.
