Loubscher expecting 'direct' Wales

Cape Town - The Springboks must focus on their own game and execution in Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against Wales instead of thinking too much about their opposition.

That is the view of assistant coach Ricardo Loubscher, who on Tuesday said that the Boks would be seeking consistency after solid wins against Samoa, Scotland and the United States in the pool stages.

"The plan will be the same. Nothing changes. We’re still in a situation where we have to win so on the weekend it’s another opportunity just to show what we can do," said Loubscher.

"What we want to take into the game is momentum and confidence and hopefully we get another opportunity to execute our game plan."

Loubscher was not giving much away in terms of how he thought Wales would approach Saturday, but he did offer a glimpse into his thoughts.

"I though against Australia they were unlucky ... missed out on a few opportunities, but what a game," he said.

"Definitely one of the highlights of the tournament so far. We’re expecting another physical battle, they’re going to be very direct."

The Springboks are expected to name their side on Wednesday and kick-off on Saturday is at 17:00.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
