Jean de Villiers heading back to RWC - as advisor

Cape Town - Jean de Villiers, cruelly ruled out of the remainder of the Rugby World Cup with a fractured jaw, will head back to the United Kingdom after surgery in South Africa, to provide moral support and advice.

De Villiers was forced to leave the field after a clash of heads against Samoa in Birmingham on Saturday.

Following X-rays which revealed the extent of the injury, De Villiers announced his retirement from international rugby after 109 Tests for the Springboks.

De Villiers' career has been blighted with injuries, but here's hoping the star centre will be on hand at Twickenham on October 31 to help lift the Webb Ellis Cup...
