Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Jake White did not hold back when giving his opinion on the Springboks' embarrassing 34-32 loss to Japan on Saturday.
White is a part of the United Arab Emirates-based OSN Sports panel, and the 2007 World Cup winning coach was not impressed with what he had seen from the Boks.
"I somehow feel that South Africa have just been plodding along thinking it’s just going to happen. They’ve been outsmarted, they’ve been out-coached, they’ve been out-thought, they’ve been … at times … outmuscled," said White.
"That’s worrying as well for South Africa ... where have we ever thought that Japan would outmuscle a South African side?
"I can’t underplay the fact … it’s a disgrace. It’s a disgrace to South African rugby. This would never happen to the All Blacks …never, ever.
"As much as I’m happy for Eddie and it’s fantastic for a friend of mine, it’s a very sad day for South African rugby. We’ve got a proud record, we’ve got standards we have to uphold as a nation on the rugby field and I think we’ve let those standards slip drastically today."
In the words of Jake....its a disgrace
