Eddie Jones set to arrive in Cape Town

Cape Town - New Stormers coach Eddie Jones is set to arrive in Cape Town later this week, a team spokesperson confirmed to Sport24 on Monday.

Jones recently signed a deal with the Cape franchise after not renewing his contract as Japan coach.

He coached Japan in impressive fashion at the Rugby World Cup, masterminding a 34-32 upset win over the Springboks - a result which will go down as the biggest upset in the tournament’s history.

Japan also beat Samoa (26-5) and the USA (28-18) at the World Cup, but finished third in Pool B, behind South Africa and Scotland. It was the first time a team had won three pool games and not progressed to the quarter-finals.

Jones will hope to produce similar heroics with the Stormers, who have never won the Super Rugby tournament.
