De Villiers led the Boks to a 46-6 win but was injured late on in the match - a knock to the jaw that ended both his Rugby World Cup participation and international career.

De Villiers constantly overcame the odds on his way to playing 109 Test for the Springboks but has now decided to hang up his boots.
