Toulon - England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson is set to give French Top 14 club Toulon an early Christmas present by extending his contract by a year until 2013, club president Mourad Boudjellal said on Saturday.

"We have had good talks, made good progress. If all goes according to plan it should be in Santa's sack," said Boudjellal after Toulon's 38-17 win over London Irish in the European Cup.

"It's magic because Jonny is perhaps the best player in the Top 14 and he's the one who gives us the least stress. It seems only natural that he should stay here. It feels as if he's always been here."

Wilkinson arrived in the summer of 2009 from English club Newcastle and is currently under contract with Toulon until June 2012.
