Waratahs sign NZ lock

Sydney - The Waratahs have boosted their forward pack for next year's Super 14 series by signing ex-Leinster lock Cam Jowitt, the team said on Wednesday.

The 201cm New Zealander, 26, who rounded off four seasons with the reigning European champions this year, will be used mainly in the second row but can also play flank.

"We're a lot more comfortable with our forwards now that we've been able to secure Cam Jowitt for 2010," said coach Chris Hickey.

"His addition will further strengthen our forward pack next season. We feel we're in a stronger situation to 2009 and we're confident the increased second row depth will further improve our tight five."

The Waratahs are looking to improve on last season's fifth-placed finish as they remain in the hunt for their first Super Rugby title.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
