Cape Town - Western Province's Vodacom Cup squad, under the watchful eye of head coach Jerome Paarwater, will be returning to Hamilton's to take part in the 2010 Cape Town Tens next month.
Having gone down 5-13 to the FNB Maties - who have also re-entered a team in 2010 - in last year's Premier League Final, WP's Vodacom Cup players will be back at the Cape Town Tens and looking to go one better as their pre-season preparations take a step up.
"It's never nice to lose," Paarwater told capetowntens.com, "but we thought the 2009 Cape Town Tens was a very competitive tournament and hopefully we will be in the final - or thereabouts - in 2010 once again.
"The Cape Town Tens, itself, is a great event, and Tens - to me - is better than Sevens as you are able to involve your tight forwards. But the rugby aside, I want the guys to enjoy themselves away from the normal stresses that go hand-in-hand with provincial rugby," he added.
"Yes, it's also a great opportunity for me to monitor the players' pre-season fitness, amongst other things, but I really want them to make the most of a fun-filled weekend and I won't even mind if a few of the guys sneak into the beer tent at some point!"
Paarwater's WP Vodacom Cup squad is set to contain several of Cape Town's most talented young rugby players - some of whom have been training with the Stormers and played in a pre-season match against UCT on Saturday morning.
The WP coach continued: "I will announce my side closer to the actual tournament when, of course, I will know more about just who Rassie (Erasmus) and Allister (Coetzee) will be using in the Super 14 and who will drop down (to the Vodacom Cup squad)."
