Nelspruit - The Pumas ran in an astonishing 22 tries as they thrashed the Limpopo Blue Bulls by a score of 154-0 (half time 70-0) in their Vodacom Cup match at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday.
Right-winger Danwel Demas was the most prolific, crossing the line on four occasions, while Jaco Bouwer and JW Bell were also on hand to score hat-tricks as the hosts ran riot over the Vodacom Cup newcomers.
The kicking duties were shared between Carl Bezuidenhout and JC van Wyk, and, remarkably, the duo were successful with all 22 conversion attempts as they bagged 22 points apiece.
The men from Limpopo simply had no answer to the carnage, and the comprehensive reverse sees them firmly rooted to the foot of the North Section table having yet to post a point.
The rampant Pumas, meanwhile, extended their lead at the top of the standings to seven points with the bonus-point win, and remain firmly on course for a home semi-final.
The floodgates opened just 60 seconds into the game, as Corne Fourie crossed the whitewash to get the scoring underway.
The bonus point was secured in just the 19th minute, as Demas dotted down for his first to help the score to 28-0.
A missed penalty shortly after from Zander Byleveldt was the only occasion where the visitors threatened to get on the board.
The Pumas crossed the line a further three times before half time to take an astonishing 70-point lead into the break.
In the second half, and flanker Bouwer was the first to rack up his hat-trick as he dotted down in the 51st minute.
Demas claimed his third four minutes later, and his score took the score past the century mark.
Demas scored his fourth in the 65th minute amidst the relentless assault from the hosts.
Full-back Bell eventually secured his hat-trrick three minutes from time, before the final try from substitute Drew van Coller in injury time took the score past 150 to round off an emphatic win.
