Cape Town - The Pumas have been crowned Vodacom Cup champions after beating Western Province 24-7 in the final at Newlands on Saturday.
The win saw the Pumas secure their first Vodacom Cup title
after they were losing finalists in 2013 and they upset the form book as they
inflicted a first defeat of the season on Western Province, who won their
only Vodacom Cup title in 2012 when they beat Griquas in the final in Kimberley.
The men from Mpumalanga ran in three first-half tries to take a 19-0 lead into the half-time break.
The Pumas pack dominated WP throughout and their defensive work was immense, while WP were stymied by their inability to string together any meaningful passages of play.
