Griquas beat Limpopo Blue Bulls

Kimberley - Griquas beat the Limpopo Blue Bulls 68-13 in their Vodacom Cup match at GWK Park, in Kimberley, on Friday.

Griquas scored 10 tries in the process and find themselves second on the log in the north section.

The home side drew first blood with winger Hilford Clarke scoring in the fourth minute in the corner after a good break by wing Ederies Arendse.

Not long after Bulls lock Wiehan Uys was yellow carded for a deliberate slap down.

Clarke scored his second try of the afternoon in the same corner.

Flyhalf Dustin Jinka converted to give his side a 12-point cushion.

Bulls No 10 Andy Huysamen finally got his side on the scoreboard with his second penalty attempt.

Griquas centre Thabang Molefe scored the third try of the afternoon 20 minutes from half time. Jinka converted before Huysamen kicked another penalty to bring his side back within two converted tries.

Griquas secured the bonus point try on the half-hour mark, as scrumhalf Ntando Kebe rounded off some good attacking play with Jinka converting.

The score opened the flood gates, with Clarke scoring his third try of the afternoon after the visitors were nowhere on the defence. Visibly tiring, Limpopo struggled to half-time, trailing 33-6 at the interval.

Griquas started the second half well with coach Peter Engledow bringing on the replacements.

Play became unstructured and Limpopo tried their utmost to keep Griquas out, but replacement flyhalf Gouws Prinsloo scored the sixth try of the afternoon.

Jinka converted to put the game beyond the visitors reach.

The tries kept on coming for the hosts, with hooker Simon Westraadt going over.

The visitors finally had something to cheer about when scrumhalf Niyass Johnson broke away from a scrum and scored under the posts for Huysamen to convert.

Griquas replied with their eighth try of the afternoon through replacement lock Jaco Nepgen, which Jinka also converted.

Thereafter a try by replacement Carel Greef put Griquas past the 60 point mark. Nepgen also scored his second later on, which Gouws Prinsloo converted.
