Johannesburg - The Golden Lions beat the Blue Bulls 24-12 in a Vodacom Cup North Section match at the Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg on Friday. The Golden Lions led 24-0 at halftime.

The Lions started the match like a house on fire. Flyhalf Ashlon Davids opened the scoring with a penalty goal for the home team after a ruck infringement by the Blue Bulls.

Former Blue Bulls scrumhalf Lohan Jacobs scored the first try for the Lions after his team turned over the ball in the Bulls' 22. Jacobs snuck around the blindside and went over in the corner and Davids added the extras. In fact, the Bulls struggled to retain ruck possession and the Lions scored a further two tries from turnover ball.
