Blue Bulls embarrass Limpopo

Lephalale - The Blue Bulls ran in an astonishing 16 tries as they thrashed the Limpopo Blue Bulls 110-0 (half-time 47-0) in their Vodacom Cup clash at the Mogol Club in Lephalale on Saturday.

Ruan Snyman, Dean Greyling, Travis Isamiel, Cournall Skousan and Willie du Plessis each secured a brace of tries, while Du Plessis' near impeccable kicking return of 15 from 16 guided the visitors to the most emphatic of victories.

The bonus-point triumph sees the men from Pretoria move above the Leopards XV to second in the North Section standings, while Limpopo remain rooted to the foot of the table having yet to secure a point.

Vice-captain Snyman needed just four minutes to open the scoring for his team, as the vulnerable Limpopo defence was easily penetrated.

Flanker Wiaan Liebenberg was next to cross the whitewash, and by the time the 25-minute mark was reached, both loosehead Greyling and winger Isamiel had opened their accounts to take the visitors to a 40-0 advantage.

Isamiel then wrapped up his brace 10 minutes from half time, and by the time the players went off the field for the break, the men in Blue were already well out of sight with a 47-point lead.

But the home side's defence looked fatigued from the moment they returned, and, although they conceded just two tries in the 15 minutes following the restart, the floodgates were soon to open.

Du Plessis scored his first in the 55th minute, and had his second just six minutes later.

Four further tries before the 70-minute mark rubbed salt into the wounds, and Greyling, along with substitute Skousan, scored their second tries of the afternoon in the final three minutes to take the score past the century mark.
