The former Saracens coach is also a medical doctor and owns a practice in Strand, near Cape Town. And with the Mother City set to host the IRB Junior World Championships next year, it will enable Venter to coach the team and also spend time at his medical practice.

Venter and Nazeem Adams, head coach of the Western Province Under-19 side, were appointed as Dawie Theron's assistants at the Junior Springboks on Monday.

"When Dawie (Theron) approached me for the job as assistant coach, I knew it was something I would consider, particularly because it isn't full-time.

"I enjoy being a doctor as well as a coach and wouldn't be able to choose one above the other," Venter told the Volksblad newspaper.

Venter will help with the Junior Boks' backline as well as with the defensive structures and the kicking.

However, he believes it will be a team effort from himself, Adams and Theron.

"Nowadays coaching teams do everything together. Thus, there's no one specific job for one specific individual. Everyone helps each other and it's more about sitting together and coming up with ideas," said the former Springbok centre.
