Cape Town - The Central University of Technology (CUT) and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) bagged victories in their respective Varsity Shield matches on Monday night.

CUT kept up their unbeaten streak with a 44-29 victory over Fort Hare in Bloemfontein. The Eastern Cape side did, however, show plenty of spirit to score four tries and secure a bonus point against the log-leaders.

In Bellville, Peter de Villiers's UWC side got back to winning ways with a comprehensive 38-15 victory over the UKZN Impi. The Cape side ran in six tries at home to move into second place on the log behind CUT.
