Cape Town - UJ picked up a bonus-point victory in thrashing the home side, CUT, in Bloemfontein on Monday, scoring nine tries in demolishing the Ixias 73-20.
UJ led 50-15 at half-time.
For the vast majority of the first half it was one-way traffic as the black jerseys ran in six tries, thanks to some poor defence by the Ixias.
The UJ forwards won enough good possession up front to ensure their potent backline ran circles around CUT.
Except for a brief 10-minute period around the middle of the first half when the Ixias showed some grit and fought back with two tries of their own, it was a XV-man show by the visitors that kept CUT behind their tryline for the duration of the match.
For 33 minutes in the second half, CUT showed some character, extending the UJ defence themselves and tackling with real heart to keep the UJ scorers quiet.
But then the wall broke, allowing UJ to run in three more late converted tries.
