Ikeys earn crucial win

Pretoria - UCT's first ever appearance at the LC de Villiers Stadium to play Tukkies will be a most memorable one after they ended the home side's undefeated run in the FNB Varsity Cup competition on Monday night.

Ikeys clinched their 24-22 victory in the dying seconds after flyhalf Matthew Rosslee converted his fourth penalty of the match.

In the end it was a fair result as the visitors scored two tries to one and made less critical errors that Tuks. It is in fact a case of back to the drawing board for the home side as they were their own worst enemy with bad handling, poor judgment, tactical kicking and disappointingly poor lineout play.

The wet, slippery conditions could have been an excuse for Tuks' far below par performance, but Ikeys did, however, not make the same mistakes time after time.
