UCT's Tiger joins Saracens

Cape Town - South African utility back Tiger Bax has joined Aviva English Premiership club Saracens from Varsity Cup side UCT for the remainder of the 2010/11 season.

Bax lined up for the Saracens 'A' team, Saracens Storm, at outside centre in a friendly match with Northampton Wanderers on Monday.

The Saracens Storm side won the match 27-11.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for me," Bax said.

"Everybody in SA rugby is aware of what's happening at Saracens, and I am determined to take this opportunity."

South African fans will recognise some of Bax's new team-mates, most notably former Springbok prop Deon Carstens and the rest of the front row, hooker Ethienne Reynecke and tighthead prop Petrus du Plessis.

Another South African, right-wing Nils Mordt, is the nephew of former Springbok wing Ray.
