Auckland - Sonny Bill Williams will confirm which New Zealand franchise will secure his services after the Castle Tri-Nations, saying that he doesn’t want the news to distract the All Blacks as they look to defend their crown.
According to the allblacks.com website, Williams has confirmed that he will not return to the Crusaders for the 2012 Vodacom Super Rugby season, with the midfielder telling his red and black team-mates that he will shift to another franchise.
There is speculation that he could link up with All Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith at the Chiefs, while his family is in Auckland, which could result in a mouth-watering combination with Ma’a Nonu at the Blues.
Williams gets his first Test start of the 2011 season against the Springboks in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, and will earn his seventh All Blacks cap facing the veteran South African combination of Jaque Fourie and Jean de Villiers.
"With everything going on I just want to play some good rugby," Williams said.
"I didn't feel like this was a good time to have a big media thing just about me and a franchise. For me, it's not about the franchise, it's about the All Blacks and trying to secure a spot in that World Cup squad.
"I will do it straight after the Tri-Nations."
