Johannesburg - The Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) announced on Tuesday that all available tickets for the Vodacom Tri-Nations Test between the Springboks and New Zealand on August 21 at National Stadium (formerly Soccer City) have been sold.

The match is officially an 88 791 seat sell-out, making it the largest attendance for a Springbok Test since 1955, should all ticket holders attend.

The last 5 000 tickets, available only in Soweto, sold out on Monday.

The GLRU confirmed that a final phase of ticket sales would not be possible as all stakeholders had opted to utilise their full allocation.

Bongani, you are a absolute idiot. I know of a lot of black people that live and work in sandton that went through to soweto to buy tickets, and they got. Why are they aloud to buy these tickest but us whites are not!!!!!! What is the difference???
ROB THE KIWI7/28/2010 11:57 PM
This should be like a home game for the All Blacks as so many of the South African Black support the All Blacks, because we never had a problem playing Coloured players.Even now you sense on these boards that the white racists in South Africa stil lstruggle with coloured players in their team. Will be great once again to see all those South African Blacks cheering the All Blacks on to another great test win. I look forward to it then seeing once again the whailing and nashing of teeth from the South African supporters who cant learn from defeat. It always must be some one elses fault.
Paddy7/28/2010 5:11 PM
Maori in black I'm astounded at your vitriole and suggest you check your facts first. Wales refused to play SA from 1970 onwards, as did Australia from 1971. NZ were due to tour SA in 1985 and it was only a court injunction that stopped the tour going ahead, so one can legitimately argue that NZ was SA's staunchest supporter for the majority of the apartheid era. As for your claim about players on the Cavaliers tour being banned, most of the team were selected for the World Cup team less than 12 months later! These are facts and you can look them up. If you want to direct your bile somewhere, please direct it towards the NZRU, who perhaps, had they stood up to the apartheid government sooner, might have helped hasten the demise of the system. All the best.
@ric7/28/2010 12:45 PM
I also noticed allot of white guys pulling up with black workers some even asked homeless boys to stand in line with them. I guess if they do it, it’s called being innovative, but when others do it eeeesh .I have also never expected such unruly behaviour from white people. Some tried to jump the queue. If you watch the news on Monday there was one white guy they interviewed, this literally forced his way to the front to be interviewed , even the other whites chased out of the queue. The mood in the queues became dangerously tense ,so much so that police vans were stationed outside BARA , one can just picture what the headlines would have stated. GRLU should be blamed for endangering people’s lives by allowing tickets to be only made available in Soweto and said its open to everyone.
RIC7/28/2010 12:04 PM
i was standing in the que on monday and couldnt get a ticket and i was there way before they opened @ 9.it was ridiculous too see so many whites in the que, theo ne white guy bought 80 tickets as he brought laong 20 of his workers that clearly doesnt know anything about rugby and no one complained i guess all the whites in the lines had a right to do so BUT why abuse the system?
Lion7/28/2010 11:37 AM
@Brain it was at Ellispark and there where 100 000 people
The Voice of Reason7/28/2010 11:17 AM
@Brain, the record was set at Ellis Park back in the 50's. Back then the 'stadium' wasn't an all seater, and you just paid and then walked in. The crowd was estimated at 105 000.
Brian7/28/2010 10:47 AM
Which city and stadium in South Africa was able to accommodate more than 88,791 people.in 1955. I can't wait to get the answer to this one?
swap seats7/28/2010 10:12 AM
I have 4 ticktes for block 513 and block 530 respectivly , me and my mates want to sit ata least in the same block. If theres anyone who's got the same problem lets talk.
Fark_This7/28/2010 7:34 AM
Geez people....This is a positive thing! Why turn it into a hate-fest! You are only hurting the country with this bull! Think before you type this stuff! Until you sit down, stop blaming others and look at yourself...we will never heal as a country!
Maori in BLACK7/28/2010 7:05 AM
@Rone. Your right, I was jumping the gun, I'm wrong but I just hate people stating facts that amount to factless. The NZ Cavillers played SA during the SA apparteid era but under NZRU they could never play as an AB again. Being a free country we couldn't deny individuals going to SA as a tourist but all the time knowing they were playing rugby as a team... hence "the Cavalliers", we were called the "Baby Blacks" when we won the inaugral world cup because under our NZRU our All Blacks were different because our Govt refused playing SA under NZ our national team (All Blacks).
Filthy Kiwi7/28/2010 3:08 AM
Paddy (5.42 pm posting) is quite right. NZ was very late to the 'anti-apartheid' party, and as for the "honourary whites" bit, I blame the NZRFU for acqueising in that system. They did not have to. NZers still banging on about 1981 as if they (alone) changed the world are cringingly embarrassing. That was then - this is now. "Maori in Black" sounds like that racist Willie Jackson. The sort of idiot who writes this bilge in the NZ press. http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/opinion/willie-jackson/3610416/A-revealing-response
Sold?7/27/2010 11:07 PM
So how many were sold and how many were handouts? What a joke! SARU gave tickets away to our newly found “brothers” in Soweto (thanks to the boerbulletjies)which is not the real problem....the REAL problem is that 90% of the “beneficiaries” of those tickets are All Black supporters! Now THAT is a joke! Keep on going with the Orlando window dressing. It won’t be long before something goes seriously wrong at that venue.
psa7/27/2010 10:07 PM
@Bongani; shame you dont have tickets.......... hahahahaa.
don't fear those who kills the body but can't destroy the soul7/27/2010 9:56 PM
Here is something to chew on: Some folks have asked to have Jake White back as coach instead of PDV.Is there huge differences between these two coaches apart from their race? What have they achieved in comparison to each other?Well here are some tidbits:Jake in his tender as coach has never beaten the All Blacks in New Zealand whereas PDV has done it twice 30-28 in Dunedin in 2008 and 32-29 in 2009.Jake on the other hand has never lost to Australia in South Africa whereas PDV has 27-15 in Durban in 2008.Both Jake White and PDV have Tri-Nations titles on their CV's whereas Jake can boast the Worldcup '07 to it,PDV can boast the Lions tour '09.Jake also was named IRB coach of the year twice in '04 and '07 whereas PDV not so much. Both coaches in the light of recent defeats has a 67% win ratio which puts them on an ever par golf score. So who does the South African public vote for in a referendum?Do we wait until the 2011 worldcup to find out or do we get rid of one and bring in the other?
Rone7/27/2010 6:43 PM
@Maori in Black -- I could be wrong but I've read Paddy's comment a few times and still can't seem to find the part where he calls you sub-human?
@ Brett7/27/2010 6:32 PM
Brett, you got me thinking. According to most of the sources, the capacity of the stadium is 94 700. During the World Cup it was less (84 490) because of VIP and Press seating. This article states that it is a sellout at 88 791. I wonder what happended to the other 5909 seats?
Maori in Black7/27/2010 6:11 PM
@Paddy, I'd suggest you tell facts my little white mate, as for tours of NZ playing SA, we were not allowed to play wearing AB jerseys in WHITE SOUTH AFRICA unless we were approved by YOUR Govt "honorary blacks", the first time we were allowed, incidentally you had to have your own refs (ring a bell BOET), I digress, it was NZ that summoned SA first regarding the Worlds boycott of SA if you changed your stance on apartheid then you'll have acceptance as "worthy of consideration". Tell us all when DeKlerk admitted he was wrong and WHY thanks to whom. Don't take my word for it BOET because after-all according to you I'm sub human. Another white lie perhaps hahahahahahaha. I'm very proud to be from Aotearoa
Jakes7/27/2010 5:43 PM
Who is Bongani??? shame always blame the skin colour.... get over it sunshine. Watch the rugby and not the skin colour, we had a good worldcup footy so lets just enjoy the game no matter what, you racist Bongani
Paddy7/27/2010 5:42 PM
Bongani, Maori in Black, folks should be allowed to wear whatever colours they want, but please let's kill this myth of NZ opposing apartheid over the years! NZ continued rugby relations with SA long after most of the rest of the world refused to host Bok tours. In 1976 the NZ tour to SA sparked an African boycott of the Olympics, and NZ invited SA to tour in 1981, the last country to host SA before Mandela's release in 1990. Prior to 1970, NZ acquiesced to SA requests not to pick Maoris, for each and every tour. That is hardly a proud history of opposing apartheid.
Tshaks7/27/2010 5:27 PM
All along i had an empression that only male whites are racists,i am shocked to hear that black males are also racists. What are we acheiving out of this, nothing, what are we teaching our kids, nothing. What do we want, nothing. For as long we are behaving in this way nothing will be acheived in our beutifly country. Chief Albert John Luthuli ance said- 'No true peace and progress can be secured in any country as long as there are others in that country denied full democratic rights and duties'. are we denieing other people a democratic right only god knows when we are going to grow to be positive in life.Sports can unit people and politics can devide people.Let us grow in a positive note.
Obama7/27/2010 5:24 PM
@ Here here Bongani - oh boy another Malema, chip on my shoulder black racist. Don't cry, for if you behave I might even let you look after my car during the game and then afterwards you can stand with you hands outstreched to accept my welfare to the disadvantaged in much the same vein as the Government is milking the working class.
@ Here here Bongani7/27/2010 5:23 PM
Biggot: A prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own. So what does your Brandewyn comment make you?
Maori in BLACK7/27/2010 5:13 PM
@Bongani Rantho, hey bro, just wear an All Black jersey, one day they'll understand. Bishop D. Tutu acknowledged NZ's stance against apparteid, wear an All Black jersey Bro. In fact just wear your own colours. Untill SA under apparteid first played NZ in NZ 1982 we sent a message that reached even Bishop D. Tutu and Mandela...... The whole world knows
Brett7/27/2010 5:05 PM
Could someone please educate me- I was under the impression that the stadium can house 97 500 people, yet it is claimed to be 'Sold Out' at 88 791.. How is this possible? There should still be close to 9000 seats available according to the design of the stadium?
Here here Bongani7/27/2010 5:01 PM
Bongani is right bigots. This whole idea was put forward to bring the game to the masses. Those non-sowetans that flocked to take up these discounted tickets defeated the purpose of it. No doubt they will use the extra money on brandewyn. Funny thing is most are probably from Pretoria and spent more on petrol money than they saved!
April7/27/2010 4:57 PM
OH Great...here we go again. Another black previously disadvantaged person rumbling. Bongani, people like you need not just to grow but mature. I am black but this has to stop already. If your precious oh so deserving Sowetans wanted the tickets why were they not on the queue? No one had to 'pose' as anything and nothing was stolen. Where did you get the idea that only Sowetans were entitled to get the tickets?
Reds7/27/2010 4:43 PM
Bongani you need to get over yourself, you racist! Why do people like you always have to make a racial thing out of a great opportunity for the people of this great country to enjoy sport together, weather it be soccer or rugby? At the end of the day, people who really want to watch a game, will be the first ones at the ticket office to buy the tickets. I think that it's great that this game is being played in Soweto in a drive to promote rugby in Soweto and for businesses in Soweto to benifit from the people who buy befor and after the game. I am chuffed that idiots like you are the minority in this country and most folk just want to enjoy the game.
warren7/27/2010 4:42 PM
Yeah right. If I could organize tickets to the World Football semi final in Cape Town a day before kick off after that had been sold out before the first ball was officially kicked off on June 11, then I will never again believe any match is ever really sold out. Watch this space for all of a sudden 10 000 or so tickets available, and then watch all the empty seats in the stands...
Paul77/27/2010 4:40 PM
@Bongani, what about the people from Tembisa, alexandra and other disadvantaged areas? Why should Sowetans have the rights to these tickets, are you lot more important? We are all South Africans and all have a right to watch this game and to the people that have tickets congrats it will be a awesome experience!
zighlight7/27/2010 4:39 PM
@Bongani Rantho, I was not aware of the fact that the tickets sold at the stadium was "especially reserved" for Soweto residents. How can you even make such an assumption? The tickets were just sold at the stadium. If tickets are sold for a Loftus game at the stadium, that does not mean that it is only available for Pretoria residents. You as a Sowetan can also stand in the queue at Loftus for a ticket, not true? So please don't get sour grapes just because you didn't get ticket! I
Anon7/27/2010 4:38 PM
there we go with the race thing again....BR get a life....Its not about white or black....Would you have a problem if a cloured or indian guy also stood in the cue in Soweto for a ticket???Please dont make a big thing out of a small thing....
Paul7/27/2010 4:36 PM
So Bogani, are whites not allowed to live in Soweto? I live in Soweto and was glad to have been able to get a ticket. Don't be so short sited. White Boy from Soweto.
bongani7/27/2010 4:35 PM
i as a black person not living in soweto managed to get a ticket its supply and demand what r u on abt? y did u not queue? its quite racist what you have just put here and quite disappointing
Morne 7/27/2010 4:34 PM
@ Bongani: Hey dude get a life please - Soccer City is not only for people of Soweto - it is a national stadium wich means that is for all South Africans.
Bareld7/27/2010 4:32 PM
Bongani: You are a racist! I wish Africa would grow up and stop asking for a handout for everything!
IsiTrupi7/27/2010 4:27 PM
Kan nie wag om al die mans in tights te sien nie. OO, wake me up before I go go.
Anon7/27/2010 4:24 PM
88 791 tickets "sold", but only 50 000 tickets available to the Public
DeonL@Bongani7/27/2010 4:22 PM
I think it is great that whites went to Soweto and stood in the same rows as blacks, this was unheard 20 years ago and show that the country was evolving to a true democracy. Nowhere it was announced that whites were barred from cheap seats in Soweto, you also get poor whites. It was perhaps 10 years ago or more that Rugby test tickets costs only R100 each!
Grant Gardner7/27/2010 4:20 PM
Why do people have to resort to comments referring directly to the color of a person's skin?? I find it so sad & completely unnecessary! Why not rather see this as an opportunity for people from completely different backgrounds to come together and stand in THE SAME line to attend THE SAME event. If Bafana Bafana were playing at Loftus & tickets were only on sale there, would you feel the same way if you wanted to attend? The R100 tickets were a BARGAIN & I think it's fantastic that people flocked from all over in order to take advantage...Does this mean you are GREEDY?? To all who got tickets, ENJOY it! And let it be yet another display of how us South Africans are able to unite as one for our National Teams! GO BOKKE!!
CHIEF MAGANGANE7/27/2010 4:20 PM
BONGANI RANTHO PLEASE!!! YOUR RANTING AND RAVINGS ARE REALLY OVER THE TOP!! THEY ARE CALLED RUGBY SUPPORTERS NOT GREEDY WHITE PEOPLE. ALL THIS AGRIEVED BLACKS AND DISADVANTAGED BLACKS NEED TO CATCH A WAKE UP CALL.. NEXT THING YOU WILL BE BLAMING APARTHEID FOR BEING AN IDIOT.
Joshdom7/27/2010 4:20 PM
I have tickets for the the same game bought earlier this year but they are for Ellis Park, will we still be able to utilize these at soccer city?
@Bongani7/27/2010 4:18 PM
Can't believe people did that, Computicket should have requested proof of residence before they sell the tickets...
Bok7/27/2010 4:18 PM
Bongani.... Stop blaming white people for everything.....so no coloured people bought tickets that werent Sowetans? Stop being so racist... damn.
Just me7/27/2010 4:16 PM
Sorry Bongani.......what system are you talking about. Why should "white people" pay more than any other person? Or better still why was there cheaper tickets in the first place. The "less fortunate" are now all equal we should either all pay R450 or all pay R100. Or are you going to cry appartheid. You lot are already getting free houses, free power and free water. Do you want everyting for free or are we all going to pay the same price for everyting?
scrum cap7/27/2010 4:15 PM
Yes Bongani I am sure you are 100% right!
@bongani7/27/2010 4:15 PM
please shut up. if those people were in the queues first then they deserve the tickets. don't turn this into a race issue!!
Kevin7/27/2010 4:13 PM
Bongani - don't you think it was a bit racist only offering the tickets for sale in soweto. What would you ahve said if the tickets were only available in a white area. Dont let your jealousy and hatred for the white man distort your judgement/brain you idi@t!!!!!
Jan7/27/2010 4:11 PM
@ Racist Bongani... you make me sick with your racist comment!
Selfish white@Bongani Rantho7/27/2010 4:11 PM
Yes it's very selfish, i'm a white person and I can'y afford it right now to pay R500 a ticket, but they don't give me discount when they play at loftus or anywhere else, i just have to setlle on watching it on tv, rather be glad it is sold out, we need a few hundred more springbok sell outs there to keep soccer city from becoming a white eliphant.
@Bongani Rantho7/27/2010 4:10 PM
Feels nice hey Bongani Rantho. Eishhhh man. I am sure that they just live and act like the "other" honest races here.......YOU WHO LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE MUST NOT THROW STONES, SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tina7/27/2010 4:08 PM
For future test matches at any stadium, will there also be tickets @R100 each available to the host city (or only at points in the host city?). just a given % of the seats available in said stadium???
Bongani Rantho7/27/2010 4:07 PM
Everyone could buy tickets on computicket you racist.
Pieter7/27/2010 4:07 PM
It not selfish of white people, its selfish of GLR. Why must white people pay R500? If i want to drive to, sleep and eat to wath the game with my wife, it will cost me R2500, without the tickets. There is a big difference between R3500 and R2700. I promise the normal white people cant cope with that ammount.
Dan7/27/2010 4:07 PM
Bongani I agree with you a 100%.So much for trying to make Springbok rugby accessable to everyone
Real Fan7/27/2010 4:03 PM
@Bongani Rantho: I really hope you are not attending the game as you are precisely the type of person I do not want to share such an occasion with. There is no law against white people being in Soweto. I know of dozens of real rugby fans who couldn't get tickets in the initial phase. Who are you to deny them the opportunity to obtain tickets? Surely everyone should have an equal opportunity to watch their beloved Springboks?
@Bongani 7/27/2010 4:03 PM
This is a international sport. Any person, anywhere in the world can attend this. The selling of the tickets work on a first come first serve basis. I am from Cape town. I will not be able to watch the match live. But if this match was in Greenpoint I would have gone.
daniel7/27/2010 4:03 PM
you see,why is buying rugby tickets a racial issue. some of the soweto residence that bought those tickets are going to sell them any way.for alot more and woulnd't have attended the game.....
To Bongani7/27/2010 3:57 PM
It's a first come, first serve world my friend!! You hang at the back, you fall behind. - Dale
Bongani Rantho7/27/2010 3:41 PM
It has been very selfish by whites that they came to Soweto yesterdat and posed as Soweto residents and managed to steal this opportunity from sowetans to watch this match i can guarantee that 80% of people who bought these tickets yeaterday are not Sowetans but greedy white people who managed to abuse the system.
Nora Marais7/27/2010 3:38 PM
I would like to enquire if we can bring skottel braai's to braai outside soccer city in the parking area.
