Durban - Loose forwards Ryan Kankowski (Sharks) and Ashley Johnson (Free State Cheetahs) have been released to play Absa Currie Cup rugby this weekend, having been called up as cover to the Springbok camp in Durban.
The pair were drafted in as a precaution after Pierre Spies (groin) and Danie Rossouw (gastroenteritis), were unable to train on Monday.
Both players had recovered sufficiently to take part in practice on Tuesday and reported no adverse effects on Wednesday and will be available for selection.
Kankowski and Johnson - who were part of the Springbok squad for the away leg of the Castle Tri-Nations - have been freed to return to their provinces as result.
The Springbok team for the Tri-Nations Test against Australia at Mr Price Kings Park will be named on Thursday.
