Du Preez is known for throwing his arms up in protest when he believes referees are not picking up on errors from opposing sides.
However, the Bok No 9 - regarded by many as the world best scrumhalf - is not always even aware he's doing it.
"I'm not sure what you're talking about," Du Preez told Die Burger newspaper, when asked about the issue.
And he's certainly not inclined to stop his so-called "antics".
"It's the way I have been playing for the last 11 years," said Du Preez.
Last week against the Wallabies was Du Preez's first Test match since November 2009.
He expected to be a bit rusty, but was happy just to be out on the field again.
The scrumhalf is renowned for being a great tactical kicker, and he feels the Boks need to improve in that aspect if they are to topple the All Blacks on Saturday.
"Our kicking has to be better. We know if it's not more accurate, New Zealand will punish us," said Du Preez.
