Clarity expected on Steyn injury

Cape Town - Clarity on the extent of Frans Steyn's injury is expected on Thursday with the Springbok medical staff due to receive a medical report from Steyn's French club Racing Metro.

Steyn, who was included in the Springbok training group of 29 announced on Sunday, underwent a scan in Paris on Tuesday after picking up an injury in a pre-season match last Friday.

The Springbok training squad assembled in Johannesburg yesterday to begin preparations for the home leg of the Vodacom Tri-Nations.

A final squad of 24 is expected to be confirmed at the conclusion of the camp on Friday.

Meanwhile, four players - Zane Kirchner and Dewald Potgieter of the Vodacom Blue Bulls and Bismarck du Plessis and Beast Mtawarira of the Sharks - have been released to play in the Absa Currie Cup at the weekend.
