Boks cancel Soweto clinic

2010-08-12 08:33

Johannesburg - Because of industrial action, the Springbok rugby squad have been forced to cancel a coaching clinic planned for Soweto on Thursday afternoon.

Industrial action in the country over the past two days has made it impossible for the clinic, scheduled to take place at Soweto Rugby Club, to go ahead.

"The players were looking forward to hosting the clinic but circumstances beyond our control have forced its cancellation," said coach Peter de Villiers.

"The guys are truly disappointed but also understand the reasons for the cancellation. They are also appreciative of the efforts of the Soweto Rugby Club which could do little to prevent the cancellation of the clinic," De Villiers said.

I'm confused? How would Industrial action halt their efforts? Are they striking? Is the stadium blockaded? Or are the folk who were going to attened the clinic not going to come because of the striking?

Nick, it's easy. Industrial action for public servants otherwise called government employees. Div would be breaking picket lines so to speak

Where are all those racists??? Go ahead and stay something! You despicable creatures!

  • Staalburgher - 2010-08-12 10:23

@G Funk; Comments like that just go to show how clueless you AA/Divvy apologists really are. People have complaints because we want a meritocracy, not a charity for the PC brigade. But of course anything that differs from your ideological point of view must be racist, right?

i think for the sake of the team or individual safetness cancelliation is a fine concept this will make the responsble peaple that with its action couse the impect of canceliation to realize that theire action has troubled or delayed a valuable opportunity to athers hoe need more of it.

WHO GIVES A SH..T? thursday afternoon...are they not playing the all blacks saturday? with so little time to go, should they not be concentrating on beating the all blacks, rather than handing out free t-shirts, signatures, rugby balls and cooldrinks? they can do this politically motivated "work" and fan relationship building after the tri nations, if they still have fans left over.

  • @Gato - 2010-08-12 12:15

No, they are not playing the All Blacks on Saturday. They still have a week so plenty of time to hand out T-shirts. :-)

How tragic, for all you contributors to turn a simply miscalculated action into a racist filled match is pathetic, why are you using rugby as a bastion of racism, SARU and PDV knows for a fact that what they asre saying is lot of crab and bull manure but they will say it because they can, but we dont have to say it, when are we going to help this country move away from this racist abyss, your a sorry lot like SARU and PDV, and for you wanting to know when did BB conduct a clinic in Sandtown, please know that soccer is not a black man's sport, lots of white people play the sport as eloquent and competitive like blacks so stop making silly comparisons without facts,
