Cape Town - Springbok coach Peter de Villiers is expected to announce a much stronger squad for the home-leg of the Tri-Nations.
The squad will be announced on Friday for two Tests - one against Australia in Durban and the other against New Zealand in Port Elizabeth.
At least 14 players who were not on the recent Australasian tour are expected to be included in the squad.
And De Villiers is confident these additions will provide the spark needed to provide some much needed momentum ahead of the World Cup in New Zealand.
"I know all the Bulls guys will be well rested. They had an extra week to recover and the nice thing about it is that the players' bodies had the chance to recover," de Villiers told the
Beeld newspaper.
He also believes the players have sufficiently recovered from their injuries. "The injuries are now something of the past and are now just niggles. And one can play with niggles," said de Villiers.
The coach believes the recent camp in Rustenburg - where the injured players were treated under specialised supervision - has definately made his players "sharp" again.
The Springbok team will assemble in Durban on Sunday ahead of their clash against the Wallabies next Saturday.
Juan de Jongh, Danie Rossouw and Gerhard Mostert are the only players who played in the last two Tests expected to make the 22-man squad for the Australia game.
However, Jean Deysel, Pat Lambie, Ruan Pienaar, Gio Aplon and Chiliboy Ralepelle are also expected to make the larger group.
The only player the coach is still worried about is Juan Smith, but he is hopeful that the Cheetah-stalwart could play as a reserve against the All Blacks in Port Elizabeth.
A possible Springbok group: Frans Steyn, JP Pietersen, Jaque Fourie, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana, Butch James, Fourie du Preez, Pierre Spies, Danie Rossouw, Heinrich Brüssow, Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, Jannie du Plessis, John Smit, Gurthrö Steenkamp, Bismarck du Plessis, CJ van der Linde, Tendai Mtawarira, Gerhard Mostert, Willem Alberts, Francois Hougaard, Morné Steyn, Juan de Jongh, Jean Deysel, Pat Lambie, Ruan Pienaar, Gio Aplon and Chiliboy Ralepelle.
