Johannesburg - The South African Rugby Union launched a ground breaking new communications channel on Friday with the unveiling of BOK, a unique new rugby magazine.
BOK is a free digital magazine, accessed online and has been sent to all members of the Springbok Supporters’ Club as well as subscribers to SARU’s weekly email newsletter, BOKzine.
Published by SARU in conjunction with TenFour Media, BOK brings the rugby fan a blend of videos, images and interviews.
Springbok coach Peter de Villiers, Bok captain John Smit, SA Women’s captain Mandisa Williams, Pierre Spies, Jaque Fourie and former Bok wing Breyton Paulse are just some of the people interviewed in the launch issue of BOK.
“We’ve been opening new ways to speak to Springbok supporters throughout 2010 and we’re sure that BOK is going to become one of the most popular,” said Andy Colquhoun, SARU’s communications manager.
“Online magazines are a very dynamic and interactive medium and there’s no doubt that Springbok supporters will really enjoy BOK. But, as most people are not ‘online’, we’ve also launched SARU onto cellphone platform MXit as well as developing a mobisite:
m.sarugby.co.za.”
BOK can be accessed online by going to
http://www.bokonlinemag.co.za and paging through the magazine. It consists of 44 pages, 15 videos, lots and lots of pictures and much more.
SARU has also launched onto Facebook (
www.facebook.com/springboks) and Twitter (
www.twitter.com/bokrugby) and has been issuing a weekly email newsletter since March.
