All Blacks delay naming squad

Wellington - The All Blacks have held off naming their squad for their second Tri-Nations clash against South Africa until Thursday to assess injuries to a number of players.

Scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan (strained abdomen), winger Joe Rokocoko (hamstring strain) and utility back Richard Kahui (left shoulder) were all hurt in Saturday's 32-12 victory over the Springboks.

Loose forward Victor Vito was also struggling with a calf injury, New Zealand Rugby Union said in a statement on Tuesday.

Kahui had already left the All Blacks squad and gone home after scans confirmed he had suffered soft tissue damage. He would see a specialist on Monday, the statement added.

"While Richard's shoulder injury has ruled him out of this weekend's test, we are postponing the announcement of the team till Thursday to give the medical staff more time to assess the fitness of the other players," coach Graham Henry said.

The All Blacks clash with the Springboks at Wellington's Westpac stadium on Saturday.
