Cape Town - Tank Lanning’s guest on the Front Row Grunt show on this week was former Sharks and Lions flank / lock Mike Rhodes.
Rhodes has now joined WP / Stormers for the 2013 Super Rugby season after playing for the Lions in the Currie Cup – an injury saw him miss most of the Super Rugby. He signed up for the Lions with Sharks team-mate Patric Cilliers at the end of the 2010 season, after playing junior and senior rugby in Durban.
Take a listen as Tank chats to Mike about his best and worst room-mate, missing out on having Pat Lambie clean his shoes at Michaelhouse, his race with Franco van der Merwe, whether he prefers lock or flank, the various moves in his career, his friendship with Cilliers, his thoughts on Andrew Hore’s suspension and how a modern day enforcer operates, life under John Mitchell with the Kings hanging over their heads, Johan Ackermann, the 2013 Lions fixtures, his introduction to the notorious Biskop steps with his new team, what excites him about playing for WP / Stormers, and managing himself as a player in these crazy times …
