Young trio extend Sharks stay

Durban - Three of the most promising young rugby players in South Africa have committed their futures to the Sharks.

The loose forward brother duo of Jean-Luc and Daniel du Preez as well as flyhalf Garth April have extended their contracts until the end of 2018, the Durban franchise announced on Thursday.

Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold welcomed the signings: “This is a significant statement of intent on all sides. Jean-Luc, Dan and Garth have all made outstanding progress during the past few months, and there is not a franchise in Super Rugby or a club in Europe that would not want them in their squad.

“Their decision to remain in Durban, to be part of the new generation team that is fast emerging, will be greeted with delight by everybody associated with the Sharks.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
