Willie le Roux escapes injury in horror clash

Cape Town - Sharks fullback Willie le Roux miraculously emerged unscathed from a horror mid-air collision in the match against the Highlanders in Dunedin on Friday.

LIVE: Highlanders v Sharks

In the 13th minute Le Roux went up to field an up-and-under and was taken out by Highlanders centre Jason Emery.

Le Roux, fell in the back of his neck and medics rushed to his aid.

Referee Ben O'Keefe consulted the TMO who suggested "no intent", but to his credit O'Keefe overruled his assistant and showed Emery a red card, reducing the home side to 14 men with 67 minutes to play.

Le Roux left the field for a concussion test, but returned after being cleared.
