Umaga proud of Blues effort

Cape Town - Blues coach Tana Umaga rates his side's team performance in the 16-16 draw with the Chiefs at Eden Park on Friday as one of their best.

The result all but ended the Blues' hopes of making the play-offs. While admitting that a draw was not an ideal result, Umaga believes it was a performance to be proud of.

"As a team performance, I rate that as one of our best," Umaga told the Blues' official website after the game.

"We gave everything we could. We put a lot of pressure on the Chiefs and we withstood a lot of pressure from them.

"Obviously a draw is not an ideal result but it's better than we've had for a long time against local sides.

"How can you say it really? We're not over the moon but we're not down in the dumps either.

"We could've done better, as you also can, but I can't fault the effort of our players.

"I'm real proud of what they've done tonight."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
